Marie Eckardt has been a doctoral candidate at the chair since early 2026. Her dissertation focuses on the history of nuclear power and society, with a particular emphasis on the historical development of nuclear safety concepts. For this project, she is employed as a research associate at the Federal Office for the Development of Nuclear Waste Management in Berlin; her supervision is provided under a cooperation agreement with Ruhr University. Methodologically and theoretically, the work is situated at the intersection of the history of technology, Science and Technology Studies (STS), and sociological safety research.
